Famous mountain in South Korea, Dobongsan
70 percent of the total Korean peninsula is made up mountains.
So it`s really easy that you can see mountains in any Korea region as well as Seoul.
Just a few years ago when i was 20 somethings i really hate mountain.
I can barely understand why i have to climb the mountain where we eventually have to get down again.
But as i am getting older, i become to have interesting in hiking.
Because i am old to the extend that i concern about my health.
And it is lucky that i live near famous mountain in Seoul.
It is Dobongsan, a part of Bukhansan national park, that i want to introduce you guys.
Dobongsan, the second highest mountain in Seoul
Dobongsan mountain is about 740m high which is 809 yard give or take.
The highest mountain in Seoul is Bukhansan and i will talk about it later.
And Dobongsan is a part of Bukhansan national park.
Anyway, there are some reasons that i recommend Dobongsan mountain.
First, easy to access.
Dobongsan is located in Seoul. So it has a great accessibility for mountain seeker.
Plus, because of it`s easy accessibility, many people come and go. So hiking trail to the peak is well maintained.
Proper high
Actually Dobongsan is not so high compared to Everest, K2 etc. isn`t it?740m is level of high that everyone can give it a try and challenge.
And it is also proper high that traveler can allot one day to hiking.
Because it takes under 3hours on a round-trip.
Recommended course, Uiam Peak
There are actually so many course in climbing Dobongsan.
It has more than 19 courses at a glance.
Among them, i want to introduce you a Uiam course which is about 540m high.
It takes about 4hours on a round-trip.
And I want to give you guys the overall path to Uiam Peak.
Dobongsan subway station Exit 1 --> Dobong information center --> Cheonjinsa Temple --> Uiam Peak
Starting point for Uiam Peak course is Dobongsan station Exit1.
And you want find Dobong information center which is the entrance of mountain.
At Dobong information center you can see a road sign and forked road like below.
Then head for Jaun bong way.
If you keep going along the load,
you can see a 'Bukhansan national park nature center'.
And after 'Bukhansan national park nature center' you can find second road sign.
Then Head for 'Uiam Peak'. And keep going the road until you arrive road sign that have way of Cheonjinsa Temple.
From this point just walk to the Uiam Peak as road sign show.
And you will arrive at the destination 'Uiam Peak'.
What you must pack before climbing
There are not so many things you have to bring with you when hiking Uiam course, a part of Bukhansan national park.
But please bring some hot water and some cup noodles.
Because the taste of noodle in a peak is unforgettable.
It should not be a cup noodle. I could be sandwich, bugger or something else that you like. Everything that give you energy is great.
So how about packing anything you want and go up Dobongsan?
