Where to shop in Korea

Are you someone who loves hunting down unique souvenirs and beautiful design pieces? Or Do you have absolutely no idea what to buy in Korea?
My wife and I absolutely love collecting keepsakes when we travel. Whenever we visit another country, we always look for meaningful souvenirs and lifestyle goods to bring home. Having those items around our house is the perfect way to remember our incredible travel experiences long after the trip is over.
If you are a fellow souvenir collector or design lover, South Korea is an absolute goldmine. To help you navigate the shopping scene and what to buy in Korea, I've broken down some of the absolute best stores in Korea to find high-quality souvenirs, daily goods, and unique cultural keepsakes.
1. Daiso

The very first place we need to visit is Daiso. It is absolute household name in South Korea. They carry an incredibly massive variety of items, ranging from home decor, storage organizer, and fashion accessories to snacks, cosmetics, andㅡof courseㅡunique souvenirs, which is our main focus today!
There is a running joke in Korea about the name of the brand. The pronunciation of "Daiso" sounds almost exactly like the Korean phrase "다있어"(Da-isseo), which literally translates to "We have everything!" And honestly, it is trueㅡthey have practically have everything you could ever need under one roof.
On top of that, you can find a Daiso branch on almost every major street corner across Korea, and nearly every single item is incredibly budget-friendly (usually ranging between 1,000 to 5,000 KRW). You can drop in and shop completely stress-feee, picking up as many cute items as you want without breaking the bank!
2. Kyobo Book Centre
Our next must-vist destination for beautiful keepsakes and unique pieces is Kyobo Book Centre. While it is technically the largest bookstore chain in South Korea, it houses a massive lifestyle and stationary sone called Hottracks that is an absolute playground for shoppers.
While the items here are a bit more expensive than what you will find at Daiso, the quality is on a completely different level. Kyobo truly shines in its stationery and lifestyle categoriesㅡoffering gorgeous, high-end Korean-designed planners, aesthetic pens, stickers, smartphone access, and unique puzzles.
As a great bonus for international travelers, Kyobo has a fantastic selection of English-language books. They even provide large, cozy reading tables where you can sit down and flip through a book to relax, with absolutely no pressure to make a purchase.
Because their flagship branches are strategically located right in the heart of Seoul's major tourist hubsㅡlike Gwanghwamun (Jongno) and Gangnamㅡit is incredibly easy to drop by and explore while you are out sightseeing.
3. Aladin Secondhand Bookstore
Our next recommendation is also a bookstore, but it operates a bit differently from Kyobo. This is Aladin, South Korea's most famous chain of secondhand bookstores. I personally love visiting Aladin to browse their shelves and trade in my own books. During a recent visit, I discovered that they also carry an incredible line of custom-designed lifestyle goods and stationery that make for absolutely perfect souvenirs.
I am completely confident that you can find some of the most uniquely authentic, "Korean-style" souvenirs right here at Aladin, and all at a highly affordable price point. Take a look at a few of the gorgeous items i spotted during my last trip to the store! They have beautiful ceramic mugs printed with traditional Korea folk-art tigers, as well as aesthetic postcards and elegant letter envelopes—all beautifully capturing classic Korean culture.
Just like Daiso and Kyobo, Aladin has a massive network of branches scattered all across Seoul and major subway stations. If you are hunting for meaningful, budget-friendly keepsakes that truly capture the spirit of Korea, I highly recommend adding an Aladin branch to your itinerary!
4. Dongmyo Antique & Flea Market
If you are the type of traveler who loves secondhand shopping, thrift store fashion, and quirky anstiques, there is one absolute must-visit destination in Seoul: Dongmyo Flea Market.
This sprawling street market kicks off right outside Dongmyo Station, Exit 3, and stretches all the way to the front gates of Dongmyo Park, making it incredibly easy to find and navigate.
Because this market is made up of dozens of independent street vendors, the products are packed with unique character. While you can find everything from vintage watches, retro gaming consoles, and old-school daily goods, the market is world-famous for its massive hills of secondhand clothes and shoes. Best of all, almost everything here is exceptionally affordable, making it a true paradise for budget-friendly shoppers.
Another amazing bonus of exploring Dongmyo is the abundance of classic local diners and street food stalls. If you want to spend a morning digging for hidden vintage gems, experiencing how older locals shop, and grabbing a cheap, delicious bite to eat nearby when hungers strikes, this market is an absolute must-visit.
5. DDP Design Store
The final destination on our Seoul shopping tour is the DDP Design Store. As you might guess from the name, it is located right inside the futuristic Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP). Unlike some of the other casual shops mentioned earlier in this post, this beautifully curated space was specifically built to showcase and sell premium lifestyle goods that uniquely represent modern Korean culture.
Admittedly, the prices here are on the higher side compared to places like Daiso or Aladin. However, the products are truly one-of-a-kind, often featuring exclusive collaborations between talented Korean designers and global artists.
Even though you ar paying a premium, almost all of the items are exceptionally practical pieces that you can easily integrate into your daily life back home. You will find beautifully crafted everyday essentials like sleek tumblers, minimalist plates, designer mugs, and stylish canvas tote bags.
If you want to bring home souvenirs that are authentic, deeply artistic, and genuinely useful, the DDP Design Store is an absolute must-visit.
