Japan small town
I have been to a few small villages In Japan.
Hita, Ineno funaya, Wadamisaki are all small towns where i visited, thgouh Wadamisaki is a little larger than the other since there are many factories in this town, It's still quiet and peaceful place.
While visiting famous cities such as Osaka or Tokyo is great as well, looking around and staying at small towns is much more remembered for me.
So based on my experience I realize heading to small towns would be also nice choice to enjoy Japan travel.
And here are some reasons you must try small towns travel In Japan.
Experience the Real Japan
When visiting big urban areas such as Tokyo and Osaka, we are inevitably facing dense crowds. We couldn't really get a chance to see what real Japan look like. So you might think Japan is just one of those crowded travel spots as other famous holiday destinations are.
But in small town of Japan, you will see and feel what real Japan look like.
You can see local Japaneses going to work, and shopping at the grocery store. There are no crowds and not many tourists. One of the interesting things is that Japanese go ti work with really formal clothing like shirts and blazers in almost all of industry. It's kind of different thing from korea. (Nowadays we don't really wear formal clothing even in financial industry.)
So going to small town in Japan will give you great chance to take a look at their real life style.
Beautiful scenery
Aside from taking a look at the life style of Japanese, You can also admire peaceful Japanese scenery without any dense crowds.
I realized how Japanese animators draw such beautiful backgrounds after visiting small villages in Japan. They don’t just draw them from imagination; they recreate their own villages and bring them to life on screen.
Budget-Friendly Travel
Another huge park of traveling to Japan's small towns and villages is that prices are significantly lower than in the big cities- especially when it comes to dinning out.
Think about your own experience, and it's easy to see why. We've all seen international tourists flocking to restaurants that locals would never dream of visiting. To us, those places feel overpriced, uninspiring and easily replaced by better, cheaper local spots.
Same thing happens in Japan. Most tourist-heavy restaurants are located near major metropolitan areas. Because those spots face sky-high rent and steep labor costs, they have to charge a premium for the exact same meal.
But in smaller cities and japan rural areas? Restaurant owners face much less financial pressure thanks to lower rent and cheaper overhead. As a result, you get incredible, authentic food at a fraction of the big-city price.
Long line-free Shopping
Buying memorable souvenirs is one of the best parts of traveling. But in Japan's major cities, it often comes at a cost: your time.
Because you are in a massive tourist hotspot, you are almost guaranteed to face frustratingly long lines just to buy a few times.
But if you head to Japan's small town, the experience completely changes. Sometimes shops are so quiet and uncrowded that you might genuinely wonder if they are even open.
And don't get me wrong. Just because that they are quiet doesn't mean they lack their inventory. These shops such as Drugstore carry same products you find in big cities.
The only real difference? You can literally enjoy your shopping completely line-free.
Warmer, More welcoming Locals
I have been to both big cities and japan rural areas in Japan. One thing that i noticed right away that people in rural areas are much more friendly. You will quickly experience restaurant owners and other customers naturally striking up a conversation with you and offering to help you out. The most frequent question they asked is "what brings you all the way out to rural Japan where there are so many other famous options?"
*Pro-tip: if you speak Japanese, they will definitely talk to you. If you don't, look for places on Google maps where reviews mention the owner speaks English.
